North Jutland Company Expands into New Sectors Without Letting Go of Its Core Business

Following a decline in revenue in 2024, the North Jutland–based company Aagaard is entering new markets with its existing products. The goal is to emerge stronger when macroeconomic conditions improve, while also creating a more resilient business.

Since 1965, Aagaard has delivered reliable industrial solutions, with roots in the wood sector. Today, its core business largely consists of silo systems and material handling solutions—from dust extraction to complete systems for handling and storing materials. The approach remains the same: simple, robust solutions designed to last for many years.

However, following a change in management and a significant drop in revenue in 2024, the company is now rolling out a new strategy. The focus is on deploying existing solutions in new markets while maintaining and strengthening the core business.

“Our core business is highly dependent on macroeconomic conditions. Therefore, we have explored how our silo systems and material handling solutions can be applied in new industries—such as biomass and combined heat and power plants—where investments are more driven by the green transition and are therefore less sensitive to economic cycles,” says Jesper Bech, CEO of Aagaard.

As a concrete example, Aagaard is currently producing two large silo systems for a combined heat and power plant in Poland. The projects are based on proven technologies that are now being applied to new customer segments.

At the same time, Aagaard’s material handling solutions—including chain conveyors—can significantly reduce energy consumption compared to alternative solutions. This results in both lower operating costs and reduced CO₂ emissions, and in many cases, the investment pays for itself in approximately two years.

Existing Products Pave the Way for New Markets

The strategy of entering new markets is based on the company’s existing product portfolio. Over decades, Aagaard has developed solutions with long lifespans and high operational reliability—and the company experiences virtually no claims.

Many systems remain in operation after several decades, providing a solid foundation for introducing these technologies into new industries with high demands for stable operations and low operating costs.

“Our proven and durable solutions can make a real difference in the energy sector and in recycling. Therefore, it is a natural step for us to expand into new markets and bring our products into more industries,” says Jesper Bech.

Strong Foundation to Drive Aagaard’s Growth

With a new strategy, a new management team, and strong owners behind it, the ambition is clear: Aagaard aims to grow. The focus is on building on the solutions and value the company has already demonstrated for its customers.

“There are still many companies that are not familiar with us but would benefit greatly from our solutions. With a strong product portfolio and a solid strategic foundation, we have both the capability and the ambition to accelerate our growth and take Aagaard into a new phase of development,” concludes Jesper Bech.
